Nicholas Jackson was born and raised in Perth, Australia and is an active member of the Australian Cinematography Society (ACS). His interest for Cinematography first came from surf trips and travelling where he self taught himself the practice of filmmaking and photography.

In 2010 he refined his skills by studying film and earning a Diploma for Digital Filmmaking at the Film and Television Institute in Fremantle, Western Australia. During this time he shot several short films and won a bronze medal at the Australian Cinematographers Society State Awards for Student Cinematography.

He then moved to Munich Germany where he currently has been residing since 7 years and has been working in the Camera department on various International and German films in various positions working his way up the ladder. He worked with many International and German award winning Cinematographers such as Glen McPherson CSC ASC, Michael Ballhaus ASC and Anthony Dod Mantle ASC DFF BSC and Rob Hardy BSC which he learnt a great deal from. In this time he was also shooting his own music videos and short films. His latest feats including ’Moments’ (2014) which has been accepted to countless film festivals and won Best Cinematography at the Soul 4 Reel film festival in Maryland USA earlier in 2015 and latest won a silver award for 'A Simple Mind' at the 2016 WA/SA ACS State Cinematography Awards in the Music Video section.
